Code of conduct

Ten rules. Every guest agrees to them when they book. They're why a room of strangers can feel easy within about four minutes.

last updated 5 October 2026
  1. Be kind. Everyone in the room was brave enough to walk in. Treat every conversation like it matters, even the ones that don't spark.
  2. Take no for an answer. The first time, every time, in the room and afterwards. A no on the night, an unticked card, an unanswered email: all of them mean no.
  3. Ask before you touch. A handshake is fine if it's offered. Anything else waits for a clear yes.
  4. Keep it clean. No crude jokes, no comments about bodies, nothing you wouldn't say with your nan at the next table.
  5. Phones away. In your bag for the conversations. The person opposite you deserves the whole six minutes.
  6. No photos of guests. Don't photograph, film or record anyone. Not even in the background.
  7. No contact outside a mutual match. Don't ask for numbers on the night or look people up afterwards. If it's mutual, the email arrives at 9am.
  8. Drink like you've got work tomorrow. Because you probably do. Bar staff and your host can refuse service.
  9. Respect the venue. Their room, their rules, their staff. Be the guests they'd have back.
  10. Tell the host. If anything feels off, tell your host straight away, quietly or with a look. You don't need to explain. You can also report it afterwards.
Break the code and your host will ask you to leave. Your seat isn't refunded and you won't be invited back. Serious incidents may be reported to the venue or the police.

Saw something?

Tell your host on the night. Afterwards, use the report form. You can stay anonymous, and a real person reads every one. More on how we look after the room is on the safety page.
