Privacy policy

You're trusting us with your name, your email and who you'd like to see again. That deserves a straight answer about what we keep, who else touches it, and how to make it go away.

last updated 5 October 2026

The short version

  • We keep what we need to run your evening and introduce your mutual matches. Nothing more.
  • Another guest only ever gets your first name and email, and only if you both ticked each other.
  • We never sell your details, and we never share a phone number.
  • Ask us to delete everything and it's gone within seven days.

What we collect

When you book

Humanitix or Eventbrite passes us your name, your email, the evening you booked and your ticket type (which tier, and at women-and-men evenings, which side of the room). We don't receive your card details. Payment stays with the ticketing platform.

On the night

Your host has your first name on a list and a name card. At the end, your match card records who you ticked. We type the ticks up the same night to work out mutual matches, then destroy the paper cards.

When you use a form on this site

Whatever you type in (usually a first name, an email and a message), plus some technical context sent with it: the page you were on, the pages you looked at before it, the site that sent you here, your browser, your IP address and the approximate location that comes with it (city level). It helps us reply properly and spot spam. The event report form works without a name or email if you'd rather stay anonymous.

When you browse

PostHog records page views and ticket-link clicks, and uses a cookie and your browser's local storage to tell one visit from the next. Vercel counts page views and measures speed without cookies. The cookie policy has the detail.

When you email us

Your email and whatever's in it.

How we use it

  • To run your evening: the guest list, venue details, reminders and any changes.
  • To introduce mutual matches at 9am the morning after.
  • To answer you, whether that's a question, a venue enquiry or a report.
  • To email you about new evenings or gift cards, but only if you asked us to. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep evenings safe, including acting on a report and keeping someone who broke the code of conduct off future guest lists.
  • To see which pages help people and which don't, so the site gets better.

Who handles it

A few services do the heavy lifting for us. Each one only gets what it needs for its job.

Humanitix
Sells most of our tickets and takes the payment. Holds your booking under its own privacy policy and shares your name, email and ticket type with us.
Eventbrite
Sells the rest of our tickets, on the same basis as Humanitix.
Notion
Where entries from the forms on this site are stored, so we can reply and follow up.
PostHog
Website analytics: which pages are viewed, which ticket links are clicked, roughly where visitors are and what device they use.
Vercel
Hosts this website. Its Web Analytics and Speed Insights count page views and measure page speed without cookies.
Resend
Sends the emails this website sends, such as sign-in links and form notifications.
Google (Gmail)
Our inbox. Anything you email us lives there.
Stripe
Not in use today. If we ever take payments on this site directly, Stripe will process them and we'll never see your card number.

Several of these services store data outside Australia, mostly in the United States. We choose established providers with published security practices.

Beyond that, your details go to another guest only as a mutual match (first name and email), and to the police or a court only if the law requires it or someone's safety depends on it. We never sell them, rent them or swap them for marketing.

How long we keep it

Booking and match details are deleted 24 months after your last evening, unless you ask sooner. Paper match cards are destroyed once they're typed up. Newsletter and gift-card waitlist emails stay until you unsubscribe. Reports about guest behaviour are kept as long as we need them to keep evenings safe.

Your choices

  • See it or fix it. Ask for a copy of what we hold, or for anything wrong to be corrected.
  • Delete it. Ask and we delete everything within seven days. Bookings held by Humanitix or Eventbrite are deleted through them, and we'll point you to the right place.
  • Stop the emails. One click, at the bottom of any email.
  • Skip the analytics. Block cookies or use a tracker blocker and the site still works.

Every evening is for adults, and we don't knowingly collect details from anyone under 18.

Questions or complaints

Use the contact page and you'll get a reply from a real person, usually within a day. If you're not happy with how we handled a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

We may update this policy. The date at the top changes when we do, and if a change affects you in a big way we'll email you first.
