Home / How it works

An evening, minute by minute

About two hours from hello to goodnight. Here's exactly what happens, so the only surprise is who you meet.

Your booking email

Venue address, which entrance to use, step-free access details, and your host's first name so you know who to look for.

Arrive and get a drink

Your host greets you at the door, gives you a name card and your match card, and introduces you to whoever's already there. Nobody stands alone.

A two-minute welcome

How the bell works, where to sit, and one reminder: phones away.

Conversations one to six

Women stay seated, men move one table along at each bell. Six minutes per conversation, with a minute to change seats and jot a note.

Interval

Fifteen minutes to refill a glass, catch your breath, and compare notes with your friend if you brought one.

Conversations seven to twelve

Same again. By now it feels easy.

Hand in your card

Tick the seats you'd like to see again and give your card to the host. Stay and mingle, or head home.

Matches by morning

If someone you ticked also ticked you, you'll both get an email with each other's first name and email address. Nothing is shared otherwise.

try it yourself

How matching works

Tick the seats you'd see again, then hand in your card. In this demo, three seats ticked you.

Little things we sweat

i.

Rooms you can hear in

We choose venues where you can talk without raising your voice, with a room or corner reserved for us.

ii.

A gentle bell

A small brass bell, not a buzzer. It's a date, not a game show.

iii.

A card, not an app

Pen and paper on the night. Your phone stays in your bag the whole time.

iv.

A host who notices

If anyone makes you uncomfortable, tell the host. They're asked to leave and never invited back.
